Pisces Training: Leader Tools

Focus on the Pisces features that are of particular interest to leaders (e.g., tutor, instructor, adviser, coach). Look more closely at the live and drop-off modes available in the system, setting your availability for scheduled appointments, and the features available in the collaboration space.

Campus tutors are invited to interact directly with their NetTutor peers--bring their questions and curiosity to this unscripted session. For example:

  • I'm used to tutoring in person. When we're online, how will I know when the student I'm helping is confused?
  • Will you show me how to do ___ in Pisces?
  • When I'm in the tutoring lab, students can see we're busy. How do I tell a student I've been helping online for a while that I need to help the next student in line?

Focus on the "hybrid" experience where campus tutors use Pisces to provide online tutoring for subjects during the days/times they can cover, then NetTutor supplements that availability.

Take a look at the student experience, review the various usage statistics and data that is captured and reported, learn how faculty can refer students to tutoring and set up NetTA assignments, and discuss how departments can customize NetTutor via the Rules of Engagement.

Learn about NetTutor--how students can access the service, tutor qualifications, subjects supported, and how NetTutor can have an impact on your students' academic success. The presentation is approximately 20 minutes with additional time allotted to answer any questions.
