The California Community Colleges Online Education Initiative (OEI) and Cal State Online are partnering together on a summer, online course finder for students. The course finder, powered by Quottly, gives the state’s 2.5 million college students access to more than 10,000 online, transfer-level courses at any California State University (CSU) or California Community College campus.
Students can search for classes using a variety of criteria, including subject matter, IGETC requirement, CSU Breadth Area, or general education requirement. Courses are sorted by distance from the student’s home institution. Students also have the ability to filter by start date, modality, and price. Additionally, community college courses will be sorted by membership in the OEI Consortium and badges denoting accessibility, quality, and support services.
The project, branded with the tagline, Finish Faster!, encourages students to complete their degrees on time. Many CSU students attend community college during the summer to complete necessary, lower-level general education requirements, while community college students often attend school part-time and year-round due to competing work and family lives.
