As campuses reopen, join colleagues from Miracosta, Porterville, Mt San Jacinto, and Columbia Colleges for a panel discussion of the future of online tutoring at their colleges and across the California Community Colleges system. Each college will also have a student-tutor representative who will comment on their experiences as an online tutor and observations about whether students will continue to need and seek online tutoring as campuses reopen.

Before the pandemic, 1 in 4 community college students sought academic support from a tutoring center, and less than 15% of those tutoring sessions happened online. In the past 14 months, we have all put our tutoring programs online and trained our tutors to collaborate effectively and compassionately with online students. Most programs have experienced significantly higher volume of students seeking help online simply because there were no in-person options available to them. When campuses reopen, will students continue to seek online tutoring support now that they have more experience with it? Have they become accustomed to the convenience and comfortable with the technology? Join our tutor and student panel to hear what they say about the differences between online tutoring and in-person tutoring and how they feel about continued support of online tutoring.
