Exchange Courses

Woman college student using laptop in parkIn the summer of 2014, the OEI Steering Committee recommended a list of courses for inclusion in the initial phases of the Online Education Initiative. These high demand Associate Degree for Transfer (AA-T/AS-T) courses were chosen based on C-ID approval status, inclusion in AA-T/AS-T degrees, student demand data, and course fulfillment of transfer area requirements.

Based on a voluntary application process, online courses from pilot college faculty were selected to participate in the peer review process to align their courses with the OEI Course Design Rubric. Faculty submitting these courses also gained access to instructional design and accessibility support. These courses will be the first to have the opportunity participate in the Course Exchange.

All courses in the Exchange will be taught in the common course management system for the state, which is Canvas.

The initial launch of the Course Exchange began with student registration for courses offered during Winter and Spring 2017 terms at the first pilot colleges. Colleges that plan to participate the Course Exchange during the Spring 2017 term include:

Butte College
Coastline Community College
Foothill College
Fresno City College
Lake Tahoe Community College
Mt. San Jacinto College
Shasta College
Ventura College

Additional course sections will be added and availability expanded to students at all 24 pilot colleges during registration for Fall 2017 courses.
