The California Community Colleges Online Counseling Network  (CCC-OCN) offers colleges the resources required for all their students to have access to high quality counseling services in an online environment. This work conforms to regulations regarding equity of student support services in distance education.

This OEI service has the following components:

  • A uniform approach to online counseling developed in collaboration with the OEI Steering Committee and California Community Colleges wishing to participate in the pilot program
  • An online counseling meeting and collaboration platform provided by Cranium Café powered by ConexED
  • A community of online counselors from participating California Community Colleges who are trained in working with online students utilizing the same platform
  • Counselor professional development training and materials that are aligned with the National Board of Certified Counselors standards for distance counseling professionals

After a thorough selection process led by the Online Counseling Work Group of the OEI Steering Committee, Cranium Café powered by ConexED was selected as the meeting and collaboration platform for the Online Counselor’s Network Project. The ConexED technology will serve as the foundation for the OEI Online Counseling Network was launched in mid-Spring 2016.
